I don’t get angry easily but this morning, something happened which made me lose my temper.
An office boy from one of the law firms came to give us some documents. No one was around so I went to the counter to acknowledge receipt of the documents. I checked through and found that as usual, the documentation is incomplete. I called the law firm and tried to speak with the person in-charge but was told that she was on leave. Then I asked for another person and was told that she was on MC. Feeling frustrated, I asked for another person and was told that she was engaged on the phone. By now, the level of frustration and irritation was almost to the brim and I told the receptionist that I’m going to send all the documents back if i don’t speak to someone. At once, the person who was engaged was curiously available and when I started telling her about the incomplete documents, she quickly said that she was not in charge of it. I ended the conversation quickly and told the office boy to take all the documents back. He was stunned as this has never happened before.
Before you judge me as a harsh person, I have to tell you that we have been tolerating this incompetence and inefficiency for at least 6 months. My colleagues would accept incomplete documents and wait another week for the rest of the documents to arrive. Also, everytime we make a call to their office, no one wants to speak to us. Once, we had to even pretend to be someone else just to be able to speak to one of them.
It is insanely ridiculous for this habit to continue and today, I made sure they knew that I am serious about this matter. I really hope that by now, they would at least check to make sure that their documentation is complete before sending the poor office boy on an errand. Sadly, I know for a fact that it will happen again.
Sigh…
